If many of your people have to move between the same two places all day, a shuttle is usually the most practical option. It might be a film crew shuttling between a parking lot and a set, or employees parked at an overflow lot a mile from the office.
That’s the work we do with our New York shuttle service. We assign one vehicle to one route and run it back and forth for as long as you need, from one morning to several days in a row.
Booking a separate vehicle for every person who arrives at a different time means a crowded curb and dozens of confirmations for you to track. Running one shuttle is also easier on anyone who doesn’t know the area, because all they have to find is the boarding point, not a building they’ve never been to.
We start by setting the first and last departure, the boarding points, and the passenger volume expected during the busiest period. From there, we work out how often the shuttle needs to complete the loop. Early starts and late finishes are not a problem because service can operate around the clock.
A few routes near the city are especially well suited to this service, whether you’re moving a team or hosting guests:
Boarding-point choice affects more than walking distance. A shuttle cannot always wait at the curb for an extended period. New York City generally limits vehicle idling to three minutes, with a shorter limit near schools, so the pickup point and boarding time need to be realistic. New Jersey and Connecticut both cap idling at three minutes. Outside New York City, state law allows heavy-duty vehicles five.
On a loop like this, quick boarding and tight turns matter more than anything else, and that’s how we decide which vehicle to send:
We don’t need a detailed itinerary to give you a quote, just a handful of numbers. Tell us which points you need connected, when you’d like the first and last departures, and roughly how many people you expect during the busiest hour. Arrivals that land together, for example at a shift change or during a hotel checkout rush, are worth flagging so we know where extra trips will help. The same goes for anyone heading back later in the day.
It’s also useful to know who on site can answer the chauffeur’s questions that day, and whether any venue has loading rules. Trips that cross into another state need full street addresses for both ends.
The people on board may never know who arranged their shuttle, but they’ll remember whether getting there was easy. For many of them, the vehicle pulling up outside is the first thing they see of the day you’ve prepared. After more than seven years in business, our team at Driven Limo sees our shuttle service in New York as part of the welcome you’re giving them, and we treat every run with that in mind, including the slow midday ones when just a couple of passengers are aboard.
Our Google reviews are a straightforward way to see how we treat the people in our care: “Ali and the entire team at Driven Limo always go above and beyond. They have been incredible to work with and are extremely accommodating. I am so grateful to have them as partners for the executives at my company!!!” (M. OConnor)
