If you are hosting clients, a reservation at Peter Luger Steak House, which has served porterhouse on Broadway beside the Williamsburg Bridge since 1887, still makes an impression. We cross the bridge from Manhattan, so you arrive a block away from the dining room at 178 Broadway.

Dinner, Then a Broadway Curtain

Tickets for the Gershwin Theatre at 222 West 51st Street, where Wicked has played since 2003, put you among about 1,933 people heading for the same doors. We suggest a table on Restaurant Row, West 46th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, so the vehicle only has to beat Midtown traffic once. When the curtain comes down, hailing anything on Broadway becomes hopeless.

A Concert in Port Chester

For a concert at the Capitol Theatre, you head to a Westchester hall that opened in 1926, turned 100 this August, and still packs in 1,800 fans, just shy of the Connecticut border. We cover the roughly 25 miles up I-95 from Midtown, and because Port Chester borders Greenwich, the theater also makes an easy meeting point for friends coming from Connecticut.

A Birthday Crowd in the Village

The Village Vanguard has hosted jazz at 178 Seventh Avenue South since 1935, with sets at 8 and 10 p.m. in a room that holds about 120 people, so book your seats early. Our clients usually set the pickup time when they book, rather than calling for one afterward. That matters most after the late set, when the curb along Seventh Avenue South fills with everyone leaving at once.

A Casino Night Up the Coast or Down the Shore

Some groups head for a casino floor instead, and we cover Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods in Connecticut as well as Atlantic City in New Jersey, each a little over two hours’ drive from Midtown. For Mohegan Sun, we follow I-95 to I-395, which takes you to the resort in Uncasville; for Atlantic City, the Garden State Parkway carries you down the shore to the Boardwalk.

How Many Are Coming? The Fleet for Your Outing

Between the appetizers and the encore, the vehicle becomes your green room, the one place all evening where heels come off for ten minutes, and the group decides where to go next. We choose from our fleet by how many of you are coming and how you want to make your entrance:

• Two or three of you have the rear cabin of the Mercedes S 580 to yourselves and reach the restaurant looking every bit as put-together as when you left home, which counts for a lot on an anniversary or a rare evening away from the baby.
• On a double date, the four of you spread out across our Cadillac Escalade, so nobody ends up squeezed into the middle seat, and there is space left behind you for coats, a gift bag, or anything you picked up before dinner.
• Bigger groups fit together in our Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the roomiest vehicle we run, which means nobody is still on the way when the first round arrives, and moving the whole crew to the next bar takes one stop at the curb instead of a string of phone calls.

Bars in New York City can serve until 4 a.m., while some upstate counties call it at 2 a.m., so last call can arrive later than your energy does. Whoever promised to get everyone home knows this is the hard part: wondering whether the friend who left early got home safely, guessing which headlights are yours, and sending everyone else off in vehicles you know nothing about.
